consuming by returning a TV

the sound in a tv is not loud enough

so the knight rides to a retailer, not the front line

the enemy is time, not boredom

the victory is measured in different plastic cases... not in smiles on faces and projects in a portfolio.

The warrior carries a credit card and pushes a cart... when he used to carry a camera and a plan for personal learning and a digital portfolio.

Now, the old warrior retreats to serve consumption.   He dreamed of overcoming barriers to learning.

He dreamed of breaking down walls so that students could wander outside of the box.

but today he stands in line to request a different TV.

fade to yawn.

Thoughts during lunch (Monday, 7 October) ---collaboration, trust, open and honest

I've been given a gift:   lunch with colleagues.

Instead of watching students eat, I'm spending lunch time with colleagues, discussing the issues of the day.

My though today is about over consumption,

affluenza (Jack Rich''s term)

There are shafts of ight between dark forces.

If I can lighten the time that students experiece while in school, then I've done something positive.

no more boring classes.

Differnces

some people see the big picture and are affected (one corner infects all).

Other peole put their lives into boxes.  isolated.  One part of life can be isolated from another part.

"out of sight, out of mind.  What the eye does not see, the heart cannot feel."

Anoher thought:  Wes Green, a schoolmate, points out that companies that sell language courses are in danger of being under priced by no cost or low cost copycats.
Rose Rock language services could offer an add-on, something that champs elysses offered, a foreign language magazine.  What can people do besides order wine and food in French?   Before the next trip, there might be 200 meals but the student can have the accomplishment of passing a self-test:  "I read an article in the foreign langue."   That is a push that comes from within ... the blessing comes from the student.  Rose Rock could be adding value without generating any additional material... just become partners with Wes' company
...  This is the sort of out of the box, next neighborhood style of thinking that Wes is known for.

There is a marketing company that has a list of potential clients (private schools).   I have a friend who has a sailing school.  Why not create partners between the marketing company and my friend with the sailing school?

These are today's thoughts.                    -zs
